We celebrate our culture and language in June 10th along with one of our literary icons, the poet Luís Vaz de Camões, and our bonds to Portuguese communities spread all over the world.

Camões, our renaissance poet died in June 10th in 1580 and we choose to celebrate all our ancient traditions in the day as a tribute to his work and vision.

During the holiday, the President of the Republic and high-ranking personalities of the State  usually participate in various celebrations, which take place in different cities. Several individuals  are also distinguished on this date for their work on behalf of the nation.
